Meares Island Big Trees Trail  (Trail OPEN)

Return boat shuttle to Meares Island for a stroll through an impressive old growth rainforest where you will see some of the world’s largest Western Red Cedar Trees. The boat shuttle is 10 minutes to the head of the trail. The first part of the trail, which has a boardwalk, features the biggest trees. Walking the boardwalk takes approximately 25 minutes one way. For the adventurous, the trail continues on in a large clockwise loop back to the beginning. The entire loop trail takes approximately 2 hours.

Lone Cone Mountain (Trail CLOSED)

Return boat shuttle to the foot of Lone Cone Mountain on Meares Island. The boat ride is approximately 15 minutes to the foot of the mountain. The hike to the summit and back is approximately 4-6 hours. The entire trail is marked with flagging tape and requires at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The views from the top of Lone Cone Mountain are breathtaking!

Vargas Island Remote Sand Beaches (OPEN)

Return boat shuttle to beautiful Vargas Island. Escape the crowds and enjoy white sand beaches all to yourself. The boat ride to Vargas Island is approximately 15 minutes. Relax on the beach or hike across the island to Ahous Bay to enjoy views of the open ocean. The hike to Ahous Bay is on an unmaintained trail (3 hours return).

– Ahous Bay Hike (round trip): $59 (adult) – $55 (student) – $49 (youth)

Remote Wilderness Camping (OPEN)

Enjoy wilderness camping at Vargas, Meares, Sloman, and Felice.

– Meares, Sloman, Felice, and Vargas: $59/adult, $55/student, and $49/youth
Vargas (west side): $105/adult, $95/student, and $85/youth.
$15 per adult per night Vargas camping fee payable to the Ahousaht First Nation.

Ocean Safaris

Whale Tours

We guarantee whale sightings. In addition to Grey, Humpback, and Orca Whales, we often see Sea Lions, Seals, Sea Otters, Bald Eagles, and many species of birds.

Bear Tours

Travel calm protected inlets at low tide in search of Black Bears along the shoreline. Watch as the bears roll rocks over in their search for crabs.

Hot Springs Cove

We often see whales and other wildlife on this scenic cruise along 26 nautical miles of gorgeous coastline. A 1.2 km boardwalk winds through temperate rainforest and brings you to the Maquinna Provincial Park natural hot springs. Change rooms provided. There’s no store, so bring your water, food, bathing suit, and towel.

$15 per adult Ahousaht First Nation access fee and $3 per adult Provincial Park trail fee. (6 hours: Departures daily all year)
